WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

The Northumberland Forum for people with a Learning Disability was set up in January 2003.

We are a group of service users who meet to talk about the things that are important to people with learning disabilities.

We are a sub-group of the Northumberland Learning Disability Partnership Board. This means that we think about what Valuing People says should happen, how we should expect to live full lives with choice and independence, and then we help the Partnership Board to understand what that means to people who use services. What kind of services will support us to be independent and make choices. How services should be planned, how they should be run and importantly how they should be inspected.

Check out the link to the Third Degree Inspections and see us at work inspecting day services in Northumberland.

We get practical support from Spiral Skills Advocacy Service. They help us with things like arranging our meetings and typing our minute.

As Third Degree Inspectors one of the standards that we check for is do day services have computers, and do people have access to the internet. We thought about how do we keep in touch and share ideas with the people who found it difficult to attend our meetings. We decided that we needed a website. We told Sharon what we wanted and she helped us to build the User Forum website. We hope you like it and find it useful.

If you have any suggestions or questions, about the website or anything else then get in touch. We want to hear from you.

The User Forum.
